Yuki-onna

Yuki-onna appears as a snowy night when the figure of a tall beautiful woman with black hair and pale blue lips. Her skin is pale or even transparent makes it blend well with the snowy landscape. Sometimes he wears a white kimono, but other legends describe it as a naked woman, and only the face and hair who stood out in the snow. Although it looks beautiful, her eyes can terrorize humans. He hovered over the snow, so it does not leave footprints (some legends claim that he does not have legs, characteristics on most Japanese ghosts), and he can turn into mist or snow if it feels threatened.
According to legend, Yuki-onna is associated with winter and snowstorms, is the ghost of someone who died in the snow. On the other hand, she looked beautiful and serene, yet ruthless when killing innocent people. Until the 18th century, almost the entire legend told as an evil creature. In today's story, his figure often portrayed more human, emphasizing her ghost on the nature and the beauty that is a snap.

Yuki-onna legend vary from one version to another version. In the stories, Yuki-onna appeared on the travelers who get stuck in a snowstorm, and uses his breath cold to freeze them to death. Another legend states that they mislead the travelers to freeze to death. In another story, it manifests as a woman carrying a child. Another legend tells Yuki-onna were more aggressive. In the story, he attacked the houses, breaking down doors with wind gusts in order to kill the occupants while asleep. In one story, he is more like vampires, draining the blood of the victim or the "power of life". Sometimes it is like a succubus, undermined the weak-willed man to freeze through sexual contact or kissing.

As snow and winter, Yuki-onna has a softer side. Sometimes he lets his victim go for various reasons. In one legend, he let a young man still alive because of his good looks and young age. He made ​​a pact to not tell the young man's presence, but later on, the young man recounted his meeting with Yuki-onna to his wife who turns out to be an incarnation of Yuki-onna.
